Now on its 2nd Edition, the New Wave Art Prize by Bog’Art Foundation was open to students completing their Bachelors or Masters degrees at any of the country’s universities. From 55 applications, a jury comprised of Lorena Breaza, Bogdan Doicescu, Mihnea Mircan, Daniela Palimariu, Ștefan Sava, and Catinca Tabacaru selected 8 Finalists who received production funds, and now come together to mount this year’s group Finalists Exhibition at Sandwich Neurohope. Through this initiative, the Bog’Art Foundation shows its ongoing commitment in supporting emerging Romanian artists and contributing to a stronger art scene overall.
Through their unique lenses, these artists tackle one of the most defining topics of our time: “Human Value at the Beginning of the Era of Artificial Intelligence.” They were invited to respond, through a work of art, to several essential questions: How do we construct our identity in a world where the boundary between the real and the virtual is becoming increasingly blurred? What changes in the artist's creative process? Is Artificial Intelligence a tool or a partner? Can technology understand emotion, or can it only simulate it?
The NEW WAVE Art Prize is a project created by the Bog’Art Foundation to discover and support talented students at art universities in Romania. The competition provides a professional platform for artists to establish themselves, facilitating the transition from concept to the creation of a work exhibited to the general public.
